Book Reviews

As a blogger, I often am offered books to review.
Recently, I received a book called, Yes, It Really Is All About Me by Darleen Miller.

Darleen's book is targeted for caregivers.
Darleen explains that she has been a lifelong teacher and caregiver to her parents, grandparents, and three children. When her husband became ill, she became his primary caregiver for twelve years.

Her personal experiences prepared her to not only write this book, but also to teach classes that focus on mind-body-spirit and self empowerment.

Yes, It Really Is All About Me, is written in workbook format with guided thought provoking questions for the reader to answer. It provides the reader with an opportunity to take time for self reflection and much needed self care.

In addition, Darleen invites her readers to join her online caregiving community at www.DarleenMiller.com.

I know from first hand experience how stressful, tiresome, and difficult it can be to be a caregiver. I am an only child. When I was in my mid 30's,  my parents became ill. I took care of both of them for 2 years as well as having to care for my young children.

Making time to care for myself was vital to everyone's well being. At the time, I often ignored my own needs because of the constant demands of care taking. This uplifting workbook acts a guide to help the caregiver realize that he or she must take time for self on his/her journey.

With the holidays quickly approaching, I bet this book could make a thoughtful gift for someone on your list!

Although Darleen's workbook is specifically targeted for caregivers, I found the questions and affirmations inspirational in general, and I believe it could be helpful to anyone who needs some prompting to remember to take time for self care.

If you are a person who is overworked, stressed, and tends to neglect your own needs, this holistic approach of self exploration may help you take the time for you.
This workbook may also be helpful for anyone who enjoys journaling for self exploration.

It is a worthwhile book for the right audience!

Although I received a free copy of this book, my review was not influenced in any way. All the opinions expressed are my own.
